The artwork
This digital drawing took me about 3 months to complete. In actual truth, the drawing itself took maybe a month. Gathering the statistics and facts and references, and then trying to figure out how to make visual representations out of each and every UCP Shenanigan was a task in itself, was much more time consuming to laying it all down.
Fun facts about the “UCP Shenanigans” drawing
- Did you know: My UCP Shenanigans artwork has become the foundation for a series of Shenanigans representations. Part 2 was a crossword puzzle I created in the spring of 2021 and Part 3 was a 2-page word puzzle scavenger hunt released at the end of November 2021. Both of the latter are free PDF downloads.
- The idea for the original drawing started out as a simple line drawing concept, with a more cartoonish style – it wasn’t going to work.
- I started in the middle of the drawing with the idea that Premier Jason Kenney would/will throw Dr. Deena Hinshaw under the bus (was I wrong?)
- I wasn’t sure at first if digital (vs tactile pencil and paper) would be the better medium choice for this particular work, however, I soon discovered that I needed to move and/or resize existing content as I worked on it.
- There is a lot of fine print in this drawing. You may need to use a magnifying glass – yes, really – especially on smaller prints (8″ x 10″) to see everything clearly.
- Shenanigans are current as of July 2020, there are approximately 58 shenanigans referenced in this drawing – not ALL shenanigans (not even close), just to be clear on that.
- UPDATE December 2021: There may be a few Shenanigans portrayed in this artwork that no longer apply or have been abandoned or whose names/responsible parties have been shuffled around. Consider this work to be a snapshot in time, specifically, current up to around July of 2020.
- The UCP Shenanigans just kept/keep coming but I made a decision to stop adding to the drawing in July 2020.
