If you like this I’d Rather Be Birding adjustable dad hat, you might also like a t-shirt or sweatshirt with an I’d Rather Be Birding theme. If you’re in the Calgary area, the Bird Sanctuary would be a good place to try out your I’d Rather Be Birding dad hat.
A note to bird watchers…
To other amateur bird watchers out there… I’ve had a keen interest in birding for the last few years but I am in no way a professional. However, one tool that I find super helpful in the identification of birds that I’m not quite sure about is Merlin Bird ID (available on both the Apple app store and Google Play store). In particular, the photo ID aspect of the app is amazingly accurate most of the time (somewhat dependent on your image – pose, colours, etc). Not an endorsement, just a useful tool that I use on a regular basis.
I’ve been honing my bird photography skills since acquiring a telephoto lens for my old Canon T2i DSLR. But, just having a big lens doesn’t make every photo perfect – either exposure or focus (or both) is often a fail for the majority of photos I take… Not to mention the number of bird butts I have managed to inadvertently capture. Maybe I need to put a collection of bird butt photos together…? I have LOTS of those.
